Tech Roundup March 2023

Here’s a look at the new additions to the Joymo product offering, from the past 3 months.

Geo Restriction

We have implemented a new feature that allows sports rights owners to limit the accessibility of their content to certain countries.

Due to varied licensing distribution restrictions across different countries, sports rights owners often face the challenge of ensuring that their content is only accessible to viewers in specific geographic locations. This new feature addresses this challenge by providing a simple and effective solution that will allow sports rights owners to have greater control over their content's accessibility.

By limiting the accessibility of content to certain countries, sports rights owners can ensure that their commercial models are being upheld and that their content is only being viewed by the intended audience. This is particularly important for sports events that are broadcasted internationally, where different countries may have different licensing agreements and restrictions.

We understand the importance of protecting the rights of sports rights owners and ensuring that their content is being viewed in compliance with their commercial models. With this new feature, we are confident that sports rights owners will have greater peace of mind, knowing that their content is being accessed only by viewers outside the restricted list.

Ads Carosel

We are excited to announce a new feature that will allow for multiple ad banner assets to be displayed in a spinning carousel on a channel page. This means that sponsors will have the opportunity to showcase more of their products or services to a wider audience. By increasing the number of ad assets, we hope to potentially attract even more sponsors who will benefit from increased exposure and brand recognition. We believe that this new feature will provide a win-win situation for both our sponsors and our sports rights owners, and we are excited to continue to innovate and improve our platform to meet everyone’s needs.

Marketing Consent

As part of our ongoing efforts to comply with GDPR, we have introduced a new feature that allows OTT channels to customise the text of their marketing consent preferences. With this feature, OTT channels can provide a more tailored and transparent approach to obtaining user consent for marketing communication.

By allowing OTT channels to customise their marketing consent message, we hope to make the process of obtaining user consent more straightforward and user-friendly. OTT channels can now provide users with clear and concise information about the data that will be collected and how it will be used, helping to build trust and confidence in our platform.

We are committed to providing our customers with the tools they need to comply with GDPR and other data protection regulations. We believe that this new feature will help OTT channels to meet their obligations under GDPR, while also enhancing the user experience on our platform.

Additional terms

We are excited to announce that our platform now allows sports rights owners to display their own terms and conditions on top of the platform's terms and conditions. This highly requested feature has been implemented and can be configured per OTT channel.

By giving sports rights owners the ability to display their own terms and conditions, we hope to provide greater flexibility and accountability for all parties involved. This feature allows sports rights owners to ensure that their specific terms and conditions are clearly communicated to viewers, providing greater transparency and clarity for all involved.

We understand that each sports rights owner may have unique requirements and preferences when it comes to their terms and conditions. That's why we have made this feature customisable per OTT channel, allowing sports rights owners to have greater control over their content and how it is presented.

User Disconnect

We noticed a lot of viewers sharing their credentials which allowed for concurrent viewers to watch the same live content from multiple geographies and devices (at any given time).

Due to security concerns, we have restricted this usage and our current policy is to allow only one viewer account/ device to watch content at any given time. This means that viewers cannot share their credentials. Additionally, this measure ensures that the content is only accessible to the intended audience, which can help prevent unauthorized access and piracy.

By limiting concurrent users, we can also provide a better viewing experience for each user, as the available bandwidth is not stretched too thin. This policy is in line with our commitment to providing a secure and high-quality service to our users.

We understand that this policy may cause inconvenience to some users who may want to share their account with family or friends. However, we believe that the benefits of this policy outweigh the inconvenience. We are constantly evaluating our policies and procedures to ensure that we provide the best possible service to our users while maintaining the highest standards of security.

Google Pay

Google Pay has been added as one of the payment options for purchasing pay-per-view tickets or monthly/yearly subscriptions. This provides viewers with greater flexibility and convenience for payment.

Reset password

To enhance the UX, we have introduced a new password reset flow. This adjustment will keep the password reset process within the OTT channel; instead of redirecting users away from it.This change is expected to simplify the process and improve the overall user experience.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback as we continue to build a product that brings together innovative technology and informed insights to maximise the value of your content and excite and engage your fans.
