American Futsal League selects Joymo to power direct-to-consumer streaming offer

The American Futsal League (AFL) has selected Joymo as its Official Live Streaming Partner in a multi-year deal that will kick-off for the 2022 season.

The partnership will see the AFL live stream every match from their league and cup competitions for the next four seasons, utilising Joymo’s live video broadcast technology and integrated over-the-top streaming platform - Joymo Arena - to connect and engage with passionate fans across the US and globally.

AFL is the only professional futsal league in the United States and is currently registering new clubs as it seeks to expand to an eight-team competition format for 2022. The league was founded in 2021 and is sanctioned under Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF) - the global governing body of futsal.

Joymo’s platform and technology will enable the AFL, and its teams, to live stream and sell pay-per-view access to their matches for a one-off cost, or on a subscription basis, with revenues channeled back directly to the content owners.

In addition to the market-leading safeguarding, secure data management and legal compliance features at the heart of its product, Joymo offers the AFL the flexibility to control and sell advertising inventory during live matches and embed streams directly on the AFL and club websites.

Commenting on the agreement, Kayleen Martins, AFL Commissioner, said: "With Joymo as our official streaming platform for the upcoming seasons, AFL will be able to provide a professional broadcast to our clubs and fans; local and abroad. Joymo Arena will become the streaming home of the AFL broadcasting all matches live and on-demand, so fans never miss a moment. We are proud to partner with Joymo to take futsal to the next level here in the US.”

Mike Emery, CEO of Joymo, said: “We are delighted that the AFL has selected Joymo to power their direct-to-fan streaming strategy. The AFL is a progressive and ambitious league looking to expand and grow the sport of futsal in the US. Live streaming is at the heart of delivering those objectives and Joymo will be focused on providing a high-quality streaming experience in a safe, secure way.

“The simplicity of streaming with Joymo will bring more futsal content to fans of the AFL and it’s franchises than ever before, enabling the AFL to monetise its valuable content, provide more commercial opportunities and - crucially for the future success of the league - build greater engagement with supporters.”

The 2022 AFL season will run from February to July of next year. The AFL is the highest level of competitive futsal in the United States and, under the USA Futsal Federation, strives to develop a culture of futsal awareness in the US.
